About me
My name is Karin and I live in the northernmost part of Sweden.
I came across the Qbee a long time ago, by sheer coincidence, and I just fell in love with the club's cute layout. Tiny pixel bees? I'm in! :)
I was approved as a member on January 29, 2004 and well... here I am. Still. The Qbee is such a fun and friendly community I doubt I'll ever leave.
Since May 2006 I'm a proud memeber of the pixel team and I'm also in charge of handing out birthday patches on the BBS board. Don't forget to check the board on your birthday! :D In December 2010 I also became a workerbee for bees #41-60.
If you want to know more I suggest you visit the personal page on my main site.

When did you join the Quilting Bee?
Jeez, it was ages ago... I was approved on January 29, 2004.
What made you want to join the Quilting Bee?
I think I fell in love with the cute layout at first. Online cliques and webrings and such were pretty popular back then, but The Qbee had this amazing pixel layout with adorable little bees and flowers ‹3 Then I saw all the awesome members with their awesome sites and it seemed like such a friendly bunch. Of course I wanted to be a part of that :)
How did you get started pixeling?
Remember the phenomenon known as "cyberpets"? For a while it was very popular to create graphics of animals or fantasy creatures and offer them for "adoption". Kinda like those toyboxes with tiny pixels that got popular later on. But cyberpets was a whole lot more, it was a whole community. I started making some kind of pixeled wolf-unicorn creatures, I still have some of them sitting in a folder on my hard-drive... Now I think they look awful but back then I was SO proud of myself XD From there I went on to pixel dolls and got involved in that community for a few years. Now I just pixel what I feel like, when I have the time.
What inspired you to create your first website?
We had a class in HTML in high school. It was just about the basics, and if I remember correctly we used Frontpage. I remember being very fascinated by this cool Internet thingy, and so I kept playing around with it even after school.
What are some of your future goals?
I would like to get better at coding, I'd love to learn some basic PHP and Javascript. And I want to make more time for drawing and pixeling, I hardly do anything creative anymore :P Other than that... I don't know. I don't have a big life plan, I have no idea what I will do next month let alone next year. Guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens :)
School or Work?
Work. All the time :P I work at an advertising agency, pretty fun job actually.
Hobbies?
Other than pixeling and websites? Traditional drawing, when I have the time. Music is very important to me and so is reading (heavy metal and fantasy ftw!). I'm a huge animal nerd too, especially when it comes to canines and reptiles.
In your own words...
Oh, um... I don't think I have much to say other than maybe a few words about art and pixeling since I've heard so many people say they can't do it or that they suck at it: If you want to create, you can. Don't get stuck on how realistic or "perfect" something looks, it's about having fun. And even if perfection is what you strive for it's not all about natural talent, it's actually more about hard work and effort. Don't say you can't do it, just have fun with it and don't give up right away. There are a million different techniques and styles, try to figure what suits you best. We all have to start somewhere and the only thing that can really hold you back is yourself.
