A Picture World

A few days ago I did something I hardly ever do: I went to an art exhibition!
A local gallery is having a really fun exhibition right now called A Picture World For Big And Small that features art from children’s picture books. I love books and I love art, so naturally I’ve always been a huge fan of picture books! I dare say that some of the most intriguing and imaginative art in the world is found by looking through the children’s section in the library/book store.

Anyway, I saw a poster advertising this exhibition and instantly decided to go take a look. Markus agreed to tag along as well when I told him the gallery has a cafeteria :P
It was really fun to do something different. I love going to galleries and museums but for some reason I always kinda forget about them. Maybe because it’s so much easier to just stay at home playing video games and watching movies? ;)

The entrance to the exhibition. The shelves on the wall are full of books with illustrations by the featured artists.

Norway

I don’t know if you’ve heard about what happened in Norway yesterday. A huge bomb went off in central Oslo (capital) killing 7 people and only a few hours later over 80 people were shot to death at a youth camp on a small island nearby. They’re still searching for people so the numbers are not final. A man has been arrested suspected for both attacks. They think he is some kind of Christian right-wing fundamentalist.

Some articles in English:
Reuters
BBC
CNN

Me and Markus spent most of last night watching the news. Then the number of dead were only around 8-9, which is bad enough, but when we woke up this morning it was 10 times worse. The images on the news are like something from a warzone, dead bodies scattered around, blown-out buildings, soldiers with guns walking around. The only thing telling it’s the North and not Baghdad is the green forests and the red cabins by the water. It’s almost ironic that something like this happened in such a beautiful and peaceful place.

I don’t even know what to say… it’s just so unbelievable. How? Why?
War is one thing. Natural disasters too. But such random acts of insanity!? It’s just… insane.

My thoughts are with Norway and all the people affected by this.
Take care of each other ♥

Sweden Rock Festival 2011

So, like I said I went to Sweden Rock Festival again. And I must say this year was one of the best so far :D The weather was really good, just a thunder storm on Wednesday night and some light rain on Thursday, the rest of the week was sunny and warm. We saw some awesome bands, ate some delicious festival food, barely slept at all and just generally had a good time.

We left on Monday evening and got there at noon on Tuesday. This photo shows the camp site just after we put up the tents. Notice how clean it is and how much space we have. Just a day later there were tents EVERYWHERE around us. And at the end of the week you could barely see the grass for all the trash…
