I am just waiting until my hold comes in from the library. I can’t wait. Though I doubt if I am going to love it, lol. Didn’t really like the original very much, but it was good.

I have yet to see it, so I kinda skipped over a lot of what you said just to make sure I didn’t gleam any spoilers, but it did help give me some perspective that it might not be as absolutely fantastic as I want it to be!

I liked it far more than I thought I would, to be honest, but I’m not sure if it was truly fitting for the themeatics. I love Burton, but I think the ‘creepy’ take on everything is a bit old hat now– while honestly I prefer my Alice creepier (love the old live action Alice stuff), I still felt it left something to be desired in one way, but still highly enjoyable, non?

Not seen it yet but I really do want to, my sister actually has it on DVD but won’t let me watch her copy.

Re The Mock Turtle, I have heard that he’s not in every version of the story (you know how fairy tales can get changed) e.g. not in Disney’s version but is in the musical version – my sister played him in a show once.

I’ve been very anxious to see the movie, as I’ve heard mixed reviews. I have no doubts that I’m going to love the cinematography and the characters, but I’ve also heard people who did not like Alice. But, like you said, there was a lot to live up to!
